Bobby Pierce Returns to the Top with Belle-Clair Win

The series returns to action Thursday night at Springfield Raceway

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – June 30, 2016 – After rare bad luck at Clarksville Speedway on Tuesday night, Bobby Pierce rebounded on Wednesday to win at Belle-Clair Speedway and claim his sixth DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory of the season.

Jason Feger looked to be the driver to beat early as he tried for his first Summer Nationals victory of the season. On the green, he jumped ahead of Ryan Unzicker. Through the opening laps, Unzicker tried to run down Feger and nearly had him when a caution flag flew.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – June 28, 2016 – Ryan Unzicker has been charging through Summer Nationals but has not had the finishes he would have hoped. That changed Tuesday night at Clarksville Speedway as he was able to claim his first DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory of the season.

Unzicker started on the front row with current points leader and reigning Summer Nationals champion Bobby Pierce to his outside. Pierce fell back to sixth early and then got tangled in a crash – he ultimately finished 18th.

Red hot Pierce continues to roll through Summer Nationals; takes Heartland Tour Week Championship

HAUBSTADT, Ind. – June 25, 2016 – If the weather and Brandon Sheppard had anything to say about it, Bobby Pierce would have been left jilted on Sunday night at Tri-State Speedway but Pierce was able to hold off both as he claimed his fifth Summer Nationals victory of the season and the Heartland Tour Week title.

Ryan Unzicker led through the first 12 laps of the night’s rain-shortened feature, but it was Pierce and Sheppard who stole the show. Pierce took the lead on lap 13 and Sheppard took over second two laps later. What commenced was an intense back-and-forth battle between the two drivers for the lead.

FAIRBURY, Ill. – June 25, 2016 – It was not an easy win, but Brandon Sheppard held tough and fought back challenges Saturday night at Fairbury American Legion Speedway to claim his first Summer Nationals victory of the season.

Sheppard started the feature on the outside pole with veteran Billy Moyer next to him. Moyer jumped out to an early lead. Sheppard got around him on lap three but Moyer battled back. He cruised through the next 20 laps with Sheppard glued to the high-side of the track and fighting to maintain his second place position, which he lost briefly at the midpoint of the feature.

Pierce adds to his Summer Nationals points lead

PONTOON BEACH, Ill. – June 24, 2016 – Friday night’s Summer Nationals feature at Tri-City Speedway played out very similarly to Cedar Lake as Billy Moyer and Bobby Pierce battled it out for the win. This time though the young gun, Pierce, got the better of the veteran, Moyer, to score his fourth Summer Nationals victory of the season.

The two drivers started on the feature front row together and battled side-by-side through the opening laps. Pierce made his move for the lead on lap 10 and took it from the Hall of Famer. Pierce built up a strong lead through the remaining laps as Moyer worked to run him down, but, in the end, Moyer couldn’t catch the 19-year-old Pierce.
