Brandon Sheppard Goes Flag-to-Flag at Spoon River Speedway


CANTON, Ill. June 19, 2013 Points leader Brandon Sheppard dominated the fourth round of the 31-race DIRTcar Summer Nationals “Hell Tour” by grabbing the pole and leading every lap of the A-main en route to the victory.


Sheppard, of New Berlin, Ill., conquered the 3/8-mile track and the 38-car field by holding off Billy Drake of Bloomington, Ill., for the $5,000 checkered flag and the fourth DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory of his career.


Jason McBride, Tyler Reddick and Bobby Pierce rounded out the top five.

Weaver Powers to DIRTcar Summer Nationals Win at Wilmot


WILMOT, Wis. June 16, 2013 After breaking a driveshaft while leading two nights earlier, Kevin Weaver bounced back in a big way on Sunday night by capturing his first DIRTcar Summer Nationals “Hell Tour” victory in five seasons at Wilmot Raceway.


Weaver, of Gibson City, Ill., started outside of the first row in his Jimmy John’s-sponsored car and was definitely “freaky fast” on the high side the majority of the night en route to capturing the $5,000 checkered flag. Weaver held off pole sitter Brandon Sheppard, giving Sheppard his second consecutive runner-up finish.


“It was just an awesome car and an awesome race for me tonight," said Weaver, the 2000 DIRTcar Summer Nationals champion.

Rain Cancels Saturday’s DIRTcar Summer Nationals ‘Hell Tour’ Event at Cedar Lake Speedway


NEW RICHMOND, Wis. — June 15, 2013 — Heavy rain forced DIRTcar Summer Nationals and Cedar Lake Speedway officials to cancel Saturday night’s event. The series returns to action on Sunday, June 16, at Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway.


The top two finishers in Summer Nationals points at the end of the tour on July 20 will be guaranteed spots in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series event on Thursday, Aug. 1, at Cedar Lake.


In the championship battle, Brandon Sheppard is leading the way after events on Wednesday at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway and Friday at Cedar Lake.

Birkhofer Holds Off Sheppard for Cedar Lake Speedway Victory


NEW RICHMOND, Wis. — June 14, 2013 — Brian Birkhofer led 31 laps after starting from the third position and held off a mid-race challenge from Brandon Sheppard to secure his first win of the 2013 DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour on Friday's opening night of the Masters at Cedar Lake Speedway.


Birkhofer, of Muscatine, Iowa, inherited the lead on lap 9 after second-place starter and leader Kevin Weaver broke a driveshaft. Birkhofer would never look back, going on to capture the $5,000 checkered flag.


“I knew I was a little loose, but I had to run the top, so I had to kind of back-pedal a little bit on the throttle and gave [Sheppard] the opportunity,” said Birkhofer in victory lane. “He was racing hard, and I thought it was great. It was great racing.”

Dennis Erb Jr. Kicks Off DIRTcar Summer Nationals Tour with 18th-to-First Victory at Brownstown Speedway


BROWNSTOWN, Ind. — June 12, 2013 — Three-time DIRTcar Summer Nationals champion Dennis Erb Jr. kicked off the 2013 Hell Tour with a big victory in the 30th Annual Hoosier Dirt Classic at Brownstown Speedway.


Erb opened the grueling six-week series with in thrilling fashion, starting 18th and charging through the field to run down leader Jason Jameson with five to go, then hold on to the $5,000 checkered flag. Jameson was second with Shannon Babb, Bobby Pierce and Mike Jewell rounding out the top five.
